This is a superb holiday for those that enjoy cross country skiing. The course takes you from the magnificent Sexten Dolomite mountains to the Italian heart of cross country skiing, in Toblach. There is nothing better than cross country skiing to take you through some of the most beautiful winter landscapes. On this ski safari you will pass Lake Toblach and continue along the former railway track of the Dolomites train into the Höhlenstein Valley at the foot of the “Drei Zinnen” (Three Peaks). It is also possible to visit Lake “Prags Wildsee”, another breathtaking scenic backdrop to be found in this area. The mountain pastures of Platzweise are a further highlight, with their glorious panorama displaying the surrounding mountain summits.
The route has been chosen so that beginners and experienced skiers alike can enjoy the excellently planed course. There are a multitude of possibilities which you will be informed about at the initial briefing. Further meetings can be arranged should you require additional information.
Day 1 Arrival at Sexten/Sesto in Alta Pusteria Arrive and settle in to your hotel in Sexten. Parking is available and included, should you be arriving by car.
Day 2 Sexton/Sesto circular loop via Fischleintal From the hotel, you set off for the Sexten Dolomites. The Zwölferkofel is directly in front of you and to the right, the Dreischusterspitze. Moving along the cross country track, you will proceed through the Fischleintal to the Talschlusshütte. Once you reach the highest point, a cappuccino will warm you up before you start downhill through the woods back
to Sexten.

Timing: approximately 2-4 hours of skiing
Day 3 Sexten/Sesto to Toblach/Dobbiaco Commencing from Sexten you go on through the forests to Innichen/San Candido, the cultural centre of Pusteria Valley. At the Haunold Mountain, the track carries on westwards through the wide Pusteria Valley. After a few kilometres, Toblach is in sight as well as the cross country ski centre synonymous with the valley.

Timing: Approximately 2-4 hours
Day 4 Toblach/Dobbiaco circular loop (via Hohlensteintal) From Toblach/Dobbiaco, you will follow the old railway line tracks to the Höhlenstein Valley. You can decide whether you want to stop for a coffee and a strudel at Lake Toblach or continue on to see the view of the world famous three peaks or “Drei Zinnen”.

Timing: Approximately 4-5 hours
Day 5 Toblach/Dobbiaco to Prags/surroundings You can visit the small zoo in Toblach and view the Gustav Mahler house before continuing onto Niederdorf. From here you leave the Pusteria Valley and go into the Prags Valley.

Timing: Approximately 5 hours
Day 6 Platzweise or Gsies-valley Today you can choose, if you would like to explore the Plätzwiese, where you can ski under the breathtaking Hohe Gaisl, or if you prefer to conclude your cross-country holiday in Gsies, a charming branch-valley of the Alta Pusteria. On the traces of the cross-country ski marathon of Gsies you can follow the route of the athletes comfortably and circle the whole valley or discover only a part of it.

Day 7 Departure Departure or the possibility exists to extend your stay.

Details
Starting point At your hotel in Sexten/Sesto
End After breakfast on day 7. Transfer from Prags/surroundings to Sexten at the end of the tour at a cost of 10 euros per person. The reservation and payment for this takes places at the briefing at the beginning of the tour.
